Salvation Army-- er, I won't be enlisting in that one

Boycott the Salvation Army for being anti-gay

It seems that the Salvation Army has a position on homosexuality-- "Christians whose sexual orientation is primarily or exclusively same-sex are called upon to embrace celibacy as a way of life."

Say what? Embrace celibacy? I'm thinkin' that embracing is going to cause epic fails in the celibacy game. That is preposterous advice, on so many levels.

And where does that leave us Bis-- who may not be primarily or exclusively same-sex-seeking? Does that mean it's still a free-for-all for us? Not that I have been able to take advantage of the free-for-all. For the past 15 years it's been a none-for-me. And those have been a really loooooong 15 years. Ugh. I wonder if SA has a position that unmarrieds should embrace celibacy, too. What about heteros that aren't trying to get pregnant-- should they abstain? The Salvation Army seems mired in its original 19th century beliefs (or the Bible-- either way, draconian).

So yeah, I support a boycott of the SA bell-ringers this season. Well, not that this is something new-- I never put money in those buckets, but find other ways of donating during the holidays. Homosexuality is not a choice, Salvation Army, but not dropping funds in your buckets, is.

Ties or ropes? Alas, the dilemmas I face.

I'm not really sure which I prefer-- neck ties or ropes. Either would work in a pinch. But I have time to reason this out. Oh, they aren't for me-- I want to bind a person or two. And not for my sexual pleasure-- this time. I need help with some projects...and I know people who can help. But they are somewhat disinclined to help me. So I thought, if I tie them down maybe I could get the help I need.

Uh, but if I tie them, then they won't be free to serve me. This obviously requires more thought than I have brain for right now. Maybe I should just stick to the ties or ropes decision. First, there's gathering supplies. If I'm desperate (and I usually am) I can hit the thrift stores for old ties. Though, I don't want smelly ones... and most things from the thrift store smell like some old guy (no need for specifics-- old guys are interchangeable).

Rope, then? There's got to be an abundance of rope in this county-- horsemen (yum) everywhere. Certainly I could cajole some cowboy into giving me several lengths of rope? Have that cowboy demonstrate the utility of various knots. This might require practice...

Oh, I think I'm going to have to take a bit of a break while I recover from considering my options. At this rate, I'm not going to get any help with my projects, but my fantasy life will definitely get a good work out.

Bi virtue

I don't know if there's going to be anything virtuous on this blog, but I'm not going to quibble over a title. I was thinking it was wise to relocate some of my ramblings to another blog. I don't think every publisher is going to want a review of their latest title sandwiched between a penis-envy essay and my meanderings about the lack of girls who look like boys in Austin.

So here we are, bi virtue of needing yet another place for my wanton and free expression. We'll see how it goes.
